Description

The Hammer SpeedSKI Competition is a ski trainer that works your upper body, core and legs together in one smooth pulling motion, so you build fitness and strength in a targeted way. With air resistance that responds directly to how hard you pull and a sturdy steel frame, this ski erg is made for demanding interval training and FitnessRace preparation. From a steady endurance set to a full race simulation, you set the pace and the resistance follows.

Hammer SpeedSKI Competition at a glance

  • Air resistance in 10 levels: the open flywheel builds resistance from your own movement, so the harder you pull, the heavier it gets.
  • 205 cm pull length per side: the generous range gives you a full, natural stroke and suits both shorter and taller athletes.
  • Training computer with Bluetooth: you read off time, distance, speed, watts, strokes per minute (SPM), calories and heart rate, and connect a chest belt via Bluetooth.
  • Ergonomic handles: the shaped grips sit comfortably in your hands and keep their hold, even when you sweat.
  • Non-slip footrests: you stand stable and in control, even during heavy intervals with high pulling force.
  • Sturdy up to 180 kg: the steel construction is built to studio quality and suitable for users up to 180 kg.
  • Easy to move and fold: the transport wheels let you roll it aside, and it folds down compactly after your workout.

Air resistance that moves with you

At the heart of the SpeedSKI Competition is the open flywheel with air resistance. The resistance comes from your own pulling motion, so you feel exactly what you put in: pull gently for a light load, pull explosively and it turns heavy at once. Across 10 levels you set a base profile, from a controlled endurance session to maximum effort in race mode. That way you train on feel and on numbers at the same time.

A full stroke for every build

With a pull length of 205 cm per side you have all the room for a complete pulling motion, from high above your head to fully drawn along your body. That long stroke creates a natural movement and makes the ski erg suitable for shorter and taller athletes alike. The high-quality pull cable runs smoothly and reliably, even under intensive use.

Measure and train along

On the LCD display you keep all your values in view: time, distance, speed, watts, SPM, strokes, calories, time per 500 m and your heart rate. For an accurate heart-rate reading you connect a chest belt via Bluetooth, and there is a tablet holder so you can follow your own session or a video. The computer runs on 4 AA batteries, so you do not need to keep a power socket free.

Good to know

The SpeedSKI Competition is a standing ski trainer and measures 125 x 62 x 211 cm when set up, so plan for a spot with enough height: you pull the handles above your head. Some free space around it is welcome for a safe, full stroke. The unit weighs 28 kg, has transport wheels and is delivered to the kerbside; you assemble it yourself at home with the included manual and tools.

Frequently asked questions about the Hammer SpeedSKI Competition

Which muscles do you train with a ski trainer?

With a ski trainer you work almost your whole body in a repeating pulling motion. Your lats, shoulders, chest and arms do the pulling, while your core keeps you stable and your legs and glutes drive the movement. Because your upper and lower body work together, it is an efficient form of cardio and strength-endurance training. It is a low-impact movement, because your feet stay on the footrests.

Is the SpeedSKI Competition suitable for HYROX and FitnessRace?

Yes, the SpeedSKI Competition is developed specifically for FitnessRace training and intensive interval workouts. The air resistance and the training data (watts, SPM, time per 500 m) help you work towards competition conditions. You build the intensity from a steady endurance set to a full race simulation. This way you prepare at home for the pace and pulling force a race demands.

How much space do I need?

Set up, the SpeedSKI Competition measures 125 x 62 x 211 cm, so you mainly need height. Because you pull the handles above your head, a room with enough ceiling height matters. Also keep some free space around the unit for a safe, full stroke. With the transport wheels you easily move it aside after your workout.

Do I need a power socket?

No, the training computer runs on 4 AA batteries, so you do not have to place the ski trainer near a socket. That leaves you free to position it where you like. The resistance comes entirely from the air flywheel and needs no power. Handy if you train in a garage, shed or room without a fixed socket.

Who is the SpeedSKI Competition for?

The SpeedSKI Competition suits athletes who want to train seriously, from advanced beginners to experienced athletes preparing for FitnessRace or HYROX. Thanks to the 10 resistance levels you build up gently or go all out, and the construction is suitable for users up to 180 kg. The long pull length makes it comfortable for a range of body heights. For purely gentle cardio without pulling work, an exercise bike or rowing machine is more logical.
