Maintenance of your fitness equipment
Keep your fitness equipment in top condition with the right maintenance
Naturally, you want to train with your fitness equipment hassle-free and for as long as possible. That’s why it’s important to maintain your fitness machine(s) properly both for their lifespan and for your own safety and the safety of the user.
Why it’s important to maintain your fitness equipment properly
Although fitness equipment is relatively low-maintenance, there are several advantages to keeping your machine well maintained:
- It extends the lifespan of the machine. By having maintenance performed from time to time on your treadmill, rowing machine, strength station, or other equipment, you help extend its lifespan. Essential parts such as motors, cables, and other moving components wear out less quickly with proper servicing, and it also helps keep your equipment operational.
- Keep training safely. Whether you train at home or have fitness equipment in a gym, physiotherapy practice, or hotel, if the equipment isn’t maintained properly (or not maintained at all), wear and tear develops more quickly. This can cause a component to seize up or a cable to snap. To reduce and prevent wear, regular servicing is far from a luxury.
- Save money in the long run. Simply put, a well-maintained fitness machine lasts longer. If no maintenance is performed, moving parts such as motors, pulleys, cables, etc. will wear out faster, meaning they will eventually need to be replaced. Replacing parts is often more expensive than having a maintenance service carried out a few times per year.
- Maintain a higher trade-in / resale value. Do you want to sell your fitness machine in a while, or trade it in when purchasing a new one? In many cases, you can get a higher resale or trade-in value for a well-maintained machine.
