Hammer strength stations

Why choose a Hammer strength station?

Hammer is one of the best-known home fitness brands in Germany and part of HAMMER Sport AG, a manufacturer with over a hundred years of experience. The brand started long ago with sporting goods such as wooden tennis rackets and skis and, since the late 1980s, has focused on fitness equipment. You notice that background in the quality and the well-thought-out, partly patented engineering. Note: Hammer is a German brand and not to be confused with the American Hammer Strength, which is a different company. Have a look at the other Hammer fitness equipment too.

What makes Hammer special is the expandability. Most Autark strength stations have a basic version that you can later expand with, for example, a cable tower, a leg press, an ab and back module or extra weights. So you start accessibly and your machine grows with your training, without having to choose the most expensive model straight away. That makes Hammer a popular choice for home, and you also see the machines in gyms, physio centres and hotels.

In addition, you benefit from the safety of a strength station. Thanks to the guided movement path and the support of a bench or frame, you train in a controlled way and without a spotter, which reduces the risk of injuries. On most Hammer strength stations you set the weight in a flash with a pin in the weight stack, pleasant and user-friendly, also if several people use the machine.

Which Hammer strength station suits you?

The range runs from a compact entry machine to a high-end multi-gym. The situations below quickly point you in the right direction.

You are looking for a compact, affordable starting point: the Autark 600 is a compact, favourably priced strength station to start with. The California XP is also an accessible all-in-one home gym for anyone who wants to start affordably.

You want a versatile machine that you can expand later: the Autark 1500, 2200 and 2500 are the logical choice. You start with a complete basis and expand as desired with a pulley, leg press or ab and back module, so your machine grows with your training.

You want a high-end home gym with a gym feel: the Autark 6000, 6600 and 6800 offer a heavy weight stack, a pec deck and exercises like the ones you know from the gym. For the most complete, modular set-up, look at the Autark Multi-Gym 9.0, 10.0 or FT3.

You want to train quietly and without loose weights: the BioForce works with a quiet nitrogen resistance instead of a weight stack, ideal for an apartment or shared space.

The Autark strength stations of Hammer explained

The Autark series is the best-known and best-selling part of the range. You can roughly divide the series into the entry series (600 to 2500), the high-end series (6000 to 6800) and the modular Multi-Gym models. Below are the main differences.

Autark 600 to 2500: the entry series

This series consists of accessible all-in-one home gyms with a weight stack, where each model offers a little more than the previous one:

• Autark 600: a very compact, favourably priced strength station. A nice, affordable start, but not expandable with attachments or extra weights.
• Autark 1500: a slightly different build from the 600, with among others a tricep and bicep extension. This model is expandable, for example with a leg attachment and a pulley.
• Autark 2200: identical to the 1500, but with an extra cable pulley for even more exercises.
• Autark 2500: identical to the 2200, with a leg press as an extra so you also train your legs in a targeted way.

Autark 6000 to 6800: the high-end series

This heavier series is intended for anyone who wants a complete gym feel at home. The weight stacks come standard with a hundred kilos and you do exercises with them such as bench press, rows and shoulder press, including an ab crunch module and a pec deck for the chest muscles. The backrest is adjustable in various positions for optimal support.

• Autark 6000: comes standard with a pulley that is rotatable through 160 degrees and adjustable in height, for maximum freedom of movement in every exercise.
• Autark 6600: identical to the 6000, with an ab and back extension as an extra.
• Autark 6800: identical to the 6000, with a leg press as an extra.

Autark Multi-Gym: the modular top models

For the most versatile set-up there are the modular Multi-Gym models. The Autark Multi-Gym 9.0 works with a dual adjustable pulley for free, functional movement patterns. The Autark 10.0 is an extensive multi-station, and the Autark FT3 combines a dual adjustable pulley with a smith machine, with which you train almost everything on one machine. If you are looking for a more compact modular top model, the Autark 3.0 is also worth a look.

Other Hammer strength stations

BioForce with TNT nitrogen resistance

The BioForce is a special line that does not use a weight stack, but the so-called TNT technology (Total Nitrocell Technology). Instead of weights, nitrogen-filled cylinders deliver the resistance, completely silent and adjustable to your own level. Ideal if you want to train quietly and without clattering weights, for example in an apartment. Have a look at, for example, the BioForce MX NorsK or the more powerful BioForce Extreme Pro.

Ferrum, California and Multi Lat Tower

In addition, Hammer offers a number of other strength stations, such as the Ferrum TX4 (a versatile multi-station with a weight stack), the compact and affordable California XP home gym and the Multi Lat Tower for targeted lat and back training. So there is a suitable Hammer machine for virtually every goal and budget.

What to look for when buying a Hammer strength station

Your goal and level

First decide what you want to achieve. If you are looking for an accessible starting point, the Autark 600 or California XP suits you. If you want a versatile machine that grows with you, the Autark 1500 to 2500 is ideal. If you are looking for a high-end gym feel, look at the Autark 6000 series or a Multi-Gym.

Expandability

A big advantage of Hammer is that you can later expand many Autark models with a cable tower, leg press, ab and back module or extra weights. Check beforehand which expansions belong to your chosen model, so your machine can grow with you without having to buy something new.

Space and weight system

Measure your available space beforehand, including the height, and allow enough room to move around the machine. Also pay attention to the weight system: most Autark models work with a user-friendly weight stack, while the BioForce works with a quiet nitrogen resistance. If you are in doubt, our specialists are happy to think along with you. See our range of strength stations for home use too.

Our advice: do not automatically start with the largest model, but with the machine that matches your goal and your space, and bear in mind the expandability. For many home users an Autark from the 1500 to 2500 series is the smartest choice: complete and expandable. If you want to train high-end, the 6000 series and the Multi-Gym models offer plenty of options. If you want to save, also see our used strength stations. Come and try the machines out in our showroom.

Who is a Hammer strength station suitable for?

A Hammer strength station suits a broad group of people who want to work seriously on strength at home:

• Beginners who want to start strength training safely with a compact, affordable machine.
• Home users who want a versatile home gym that they can expand later.
• Advanced strength athletes who are looking for a complete gym feel with a high-end Autark or Multi-Gym.
• Apartment dwellers who want to train quietly with the silent BioForce, without loose weights.
• Users in rehabilitation who want to build up their muscles in a controlled way with full support.

If you are looking purely for the cheapest entry machine from a budget brand, that is a different choice. If you want German quality with a smart, expandable system that grows with you, Hammer offers a strong, versatile choice.

Frequently asked questions about Hammer strength stations

What is the difference between the Autark 600, 1500, 2200 and 2500?

The 600 is the compact, affordable entry model and is not expandable. The 1500 has among others a tricep and bicep extension and is expandable. The 2200 is the same as the 1500, with an extra cable pulley for more exercises. The 2500 is the same as the 2200, with a leg press on top for your legs. So each model offers a little more than the previous one.

What makes the Autark 6000 series different?

The 6000, 6600 and 6800 are the high-end models, standard with a weight stack of a hundred kilos, a pec deck and exercises such as bench press, rows and shoulder press. The 6000 has a pulley rotatable through 160 degrees; the 6600 adds an ab and back extension and the 6800 a leg press. They give the most gym feel.

What is the BioForce and how does the TNT resistance work?

The BioForce does not use a weight stack, but TNT technology (Total Nitrocell Technology): nitrogen-filled cylinders deliver a smooth, silent and adjustable resistance. So you train quietly and without loose weights, which makes the BioForce ideal for an apartment or shared space.

Is Hammer the same as Hammer Strength?

No. Hammer is a German brand from HAMMER Sport AG, with over a hundred years of experience in sport. Hammer Strength is a different, American brand. They are similar in name, but they are different companies.

Can I expand a Hammer strength station later?

With many Autark models you can, for example with a cable tower, leg press, ab and back module or extra weights. So your machine grows with your training without having to buy a completely new strength station. Only the compact Autark 600 is not expandable. Check per model which options are available.
